"Lesbian" Comic: Peanut Butter, Volume 3 (English)

Let's talk porn.

It's not at all true that everyone knows porn when they see it. That's part of the meaning of the "L" in LFB. There are a lot of people who don't see any difference in say, true romance, and stalking or rape. Not just in straight porn, either. These themes are very very common in, oh, say, Yaoi/BL and "lesbian" porn for guys.

Peanut Butter is American porn. It reads like a cross between a "true" letters to one of those porn mags that were kept under the counter of the Somerset Farms and only sold to cops and really sad looking guys, and one of those adult novels sold by Coles, when that chain inhabited all the malls of America. (If you don't remember either of these things, you are 1) too young to read Peanut Butter and 2) have missed *nothing,* except a few laughs at the bad writing in both.)

It ostensibly is the diary of a severely out-of-proportion girl named Molly in her first semester at college surrounded by severely out-of-proportion other women and men. The secondary sexual characterstics of both genders are huge enough to put me right off, but will undoubtedly appeal to many.

Molly has zOMG! sexual experiences that are, like, wow, crazy, man, totally unprotected and full of gouting, gushing and flowing bodily fluids in full color. There are Hawt Lesbo Sexxors scenes. No one actually likes one another, though.

The audience for this is folks who thought Maka-Maka needed to be pornier.

Ratings:

Art - 4 In one sense it's very good, but to the most important sense - i.e., my sight - it is not
Story - 4
Characters - HAH!
Yuri - In the sense that there are Hawt Lesbo Sexxors - 9 In every other sense - 1
Loser FanBoy - 1324785

Overall - Dan, do you want me to send this to you? You can have it. :-)

I'm thinking of creating a new rank in the Hero Roll for folks like Eric. P and Dan P. (who is, concidentally the sponsor of today's review) to reflect the over-the-top, zOMG!, like crazy, man, generosity you've shown. How's Demigod sound? ;-)

Blurgh! I really want more Maka-Maka, or more like it (I'd just like them to stop wasting time wangsting over loser boyfriends, and start spending time being happy together as an actual couple). But...hrm.

I dislike schoolgirl yuri where everyone is so wispy that they look to be about 10 even if they're 18 according to the story, but overly inflated bodies aren't appealing, either.

Thanks for taking one for the team here Erica so we don't waste our yuri manga money.

Thanks for the review, Erica! It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure someone will read it. :p It reminds me of something my (male) friends would give me: "Look! It has lesbians in it. And I immediately thought of you!" It's good to have friends.
